Filming Plan 

The film will be about 4-5 people engaged in a high stakes poker game with a different ending.
There'll be three main parts to the film:

The rough plan 

  • 1. The exposition and explanation of the main character. Here there'll be close up shots of hands being played, plays being called and action in the pot. There'll be mid shots of different characters, displaying different  postures and mannerisms of each individual.
  • 2. Explaining the different characteristics of each individual, twitches, habits tipping dealer, bluffing, decision making, time of fold, time of check, time of raises, amount raised, personality.
  • 3. When the game has gone on for a long time, they will resort to a higher form of gambling: Russian Roulette. Here there'll be plenty of long shots, maybe a zolly, a lot of tense shots. Building suspense, people win and lose.
  • Throughout the film there'll be plenty of close up shots, to describe how the different individuals play sometimes without using words
  • There'll be the nervous one, the cocky one, the quiet one, and the bluffer.
  • Each of these different players will have shots that are unique to them, for example, the nervous one will have close up shots of their foot tapping, head shaking, jittering and poor handling of chips.
  • The protagonist will have shots which infer he is the morally cleaner guy, he doesn't have to be the ideal hero, but it should be clear that he's the main character.
  • Dialogue from protagonists mind will be heard at the same time as a variety of shots, whether it be a close up of him or a mid-ling shot of the table.
  • There'll be point-of-view shots at different points of different characters.

Evaluative Analysis   Jack Talbot My production is the short film The Game – a film that establishes and develops a character. The Game explores the thought process of a gambler, who finds himself in high stakes poker game which then leads to an intense game of Russian roulette. Whilst making The Game, my intentions were to make the audience empathise with the narrator, and to show them how judgement takes place in the mind. I was inspired by films such as The Deerhunter, Locked Stocked and two smoking barrels and Rounders. Wolf of Wall street scene analysis and Social issue in film

Personal response to Wolf of Wall street 1 st sequence/scene analysis The first scene I shall analyse is the scene where Jordan Belfort (Leonardo Dicaprio) is invited to a meal with his boss (Matthew Mcconaughey). The scene takes place in a fancy New York penthouse-like restaurant. It is an interesting scene, as it shows the contrast in characters. Belfort, new to the stock market career, is very hesitant and replies with short answers, and asks direct questions. His sentences don’t flow confidently and he also smiles awkwardly. His slouched rigid posture connotes feelings of uncertainty and a lack of confidence. However, his boss, is loose and free flowing and is not afraid of asking sensitive questions and replying with somewhat shocking answers. When Belfort asks how his boss handles the strains of Wall street, his boss casually responds with “How the hell else would you do this job, Cocaine and hookers my friend.” This laidback persona of the boss makes the viewer feel like
